SECOND SCREEN THUNDER

When the OKC Thunder wanted to create a second screen fan activation program for their broadcast on Fox Sports Oklahoma they turned to Lodestone. The goal was to encourage fans to watch earlier during game days, improve engagement with OKC content, increase new leads, gather deep data on their fans, provide a lucrative sponsorship opportunity and create a fun, interactive campaign that would keep fans coming back game after game.


THE SOLUTION 

A second screen fan activation and promotion program that fans could access via a mobile responsive ThunderWatchandWin.com website and through the Thunder’s existing native mobile app. Fans could:

• Answer game day trivia questions – the faster they answered the more points they received

• Answered various game day polls

• Enter special codes released during the pre-game show by announcers. Codes would enter fans into promotions, earn points or unlock exclusive content

• Voted via clicks or Twitter on the Calls of the Game video that pitted the TV announcer against the Radio announcer for fans to decide who had the better play-by-play call.

• Fans could also earn points by interacting and sharing official Thunder social media content from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Recent News.

A fans points earned during each game nights entered them into a chance to win game night prizes like player shoes, personalized jersey, tickets and more. In addition the points earned each week, month and season entered fans into weekly, monthly and season long sweepstakes. Every 500 points a fan earned them one entry into game day or weekly/monthly/season long sweepstakes.


THE RESULTS

The Thunder Watch and Win program delivered Billions of impressions, thousands of hours of engagement, tens of thousands of leads and help bump their viewership ratings on Fox Sports Oklahoma.
